MRS. SUZANNE IROCHEONWU - CHAIRPERSON
Mrs. Suzanne Olufunke Irocheonwu is a results-oriented leader with over four decades of professional experience in the finance and banking sector across Africa. She has extensive Board and Corporate Governance experience through participation on several Boards in an Executive and Non-executive capacity and has held several Independent Non-executive Director positions on Boards across different industries, including United Africa Company (UAC), where she currently serves as an Independent Non-executive director and the Chairperson of the Board Governance and Remuneration Committee.
She began her career in 1982 at First Bank of Nigeria as a Foreign Exchange supervisor before proceeding to the International Merchant Bank, an affiliate of the First National Bank of Chicago, where she worked for five years. During this time, she rose up the corporate ladder from Reconciliation and Investigating Supervisor to Assistant Manager. Mrs. Suzanne Olufunke Irocheonwu has a strong track record of performance in both stable and turnaround businesses.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Lagos and a master’s degree in Management with a concentration in Finance, Marketing, and Management Policy from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. She is an alumna of the London Business School, Harvard Business School, as well as other institutions where she attended training on several subjects, including but not limited to Oil and Gas, Leadership, Audit, and Nigerian sustainable banking principles.
Mrs. Suzanne Olufunke Irocheonwu joined the Board of Coronation Life Assurance Limited in May 2023 and serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Company.
